The Duchess of Malfi
by
John Webster                               (Spring 2005)

Based on a true story and set in Italy (in part to allow Webster to comment on events in England) this Jacobean revenge tragedy deals with themes of inequality, injustice and corruption. The darkness of the play was strongly reinforced by the set and the lighting in a production which attracted large and appreciative audiences.

The Rivals
by Richard Sheridan                       (Summer 2005)

The Castle Grounds proved to be a perfect setting for a warmly appreciated (despite the weather!) production of this perennially popular classic of late-Restoration comedy featuring, of course, the idiosyncratically eloquent Mrs Malaprop.

The Dice House
by
Paul Lucas                                 (Autumn 2005)

Set in the residential practice of a psychiatrist who compels his patients to give their lives over to chance - to the roll of a dice - this wickedly funny, black comedy is based on the cult novel, The Dice Man, written in the early 1970s. The production’s air of Father Ted as directed by Sam Peckinpah won much deserved praise from the audience.
